If you already hold OKB or stablecoins on X Layer, you can skip the bridge and go directly to token or NFT exploration. If you do not, WheelX can move assets onto X Layer and swap into the asset you need. The recorded session also shows an important lesson for memes: a token can be visible in a selector while the live route is still unattractive. X Layer Is Becoming More Than an Infrastructure Story

X Layer now positions itself as an EVM Layer 2 for onchain financial markets, with OKB as its native gas token. For everyday users, however, the network is also becoming a place to trade ecosystem assets, browse NFTs, and build a broader onchain footprint through simple interactions.

X Layer is an Ethereum Layer 2 built by OKX. Its current developer documentation describes an EVM-equivalent environment, while the mainnet network configuration uses Chain ID 196 and OKB as the native gas token. The official X Layer page highlights low transaction costs and fast block production as core network characteristics.

Why Memecoins and NFTs Belong in the X Layer Conversation

Memecoins and NFTs sit at a different layer of the ecosystem than payments, DeFi, or market infrastructure. They are where community attention, experimentation, and speculative activity often become visible first. For users, they also create more varied onchain behavior than simply bridging funds in and leaving them untouched.

Fund X Layer through WheelX

Before exploring memes or buying an NFT, the wallet needs assets on X Layer. Because OKB is the native gas token, arriving with OKB gives the wallet the flexibility to pay gas and continue into other onchain actions.

Bridge into OKB on X Layer

Open WheelX Trade, connect your wallet, then choose the asset you want to move. In our recorded session, we used BNB on BNB Chain and selected OKB on X Layer as the destination.

Review the route, then confirm

WheelX displays the expected output, price impact, slippage, minimum received, estimated time, recipient, route, and XP before signing. Cross-chain quotes can refresh, so the final executed amount may differ slightly from the first estimate.

Prepare the asset you want to use next

After the bridge, we completed a same-chain swap from OKB to USDC. The recorded result was 0.004238 OKB → 0.419825 USDC in 2 seconds, with +3.05 XP. That USDC balance was then used to inspect X Layer meme routes.

Keep enough OKB for gas

If your wallet is not funded, bridge it into X Layer first. Do not convert the entire OKB balance if you still plan to make additional swaps, buy NFTs, send GM, or deploy a contract.

Choose the source asset and stay on X Layer

Set X Layer as the network on both sides. You can start with OKB, USDC, or another supported asset already in the wallet. In the recorded meme walkthrough, USDC was used as the source balance.

Select the meme token

Choose the token from the WheelX selector. If you are searching for a specific project, verify the contract address from an official project source rather than relying only on the ticker or logo.

Read the route before you approve

This is the most important step for meme trading. Review price impact, slippage, minimum received, estimated time, and the final route.

Execute

Approve the token, then confirm the swap in your wallet. After execution, verify the received balance in WheelX transaction history or your wallet.

NFTs on X Layer: A Different Side of the Ecosystem

X Layer also has a dedicated NFT discovery path through the OKX NFT Marketplace. In the recorded walkthrough, we opened the marketplace, switched the network filter to X Layer, entered the X Layer collection rankings, and changed the ranking timeframe before opening a collection.

The key difference from meme trading is that NFT activity depends on both the collection and the individual item. Floor prices, verification status, ownership concentration, and item-specific traits can all matter. The marketplace flow provides those checks before the wallet signature

Make sure the wallet has enough OKB on X Layer

NFT purchases require the correct settlement asset plus gas. If the wallet is short, use WheelX first to bridge into OKB or swap into the asset required by the listing.

Open the NFT marketplace and filter to X Layer

Connect the same wallet to OKX Wallet, open the NFT Marketplace, choose X Layer from the network filter, then browse collections or open the X Layer ranking page.

Open the collection and review the item

Check the collection page, floor price, owners, listed items, contract address, and item description.

Review the checkout carefully

Review the same fields on your own transaction because listings and fees can change.

Open WheelX GM and locate X Layer. In the recorded interface, the X Layer row displayed +5 XP and +1 TX. Reward values are interface values and may change, so use the number shown when you actually interact.

Deploy a Smart Contract on X Layer

WheelX Deploy can create a simple smart-contract interaction without requiring the user to write code. In the recorded session, X Layer was selected in the Deploy interface and the contract counter initially showed 0.

After confirmation, WheelX displayed Contract Deployed together with the new contract address and +50 XP.

Final Thoughts

X Layer is developing around a broader onchain market vision, but users do not need to wait for the full roadmap to explore the network. Memecoins and NFTs already provide two very different types of activity: one tests live liquidity and routing, while the other adds collection discovery and item-level verification.
